Defense Management Speaker Series: Mr. John Pyrovolakis, Defense Management as an Interdisciplinary Warfighting System

Mr. John Pyrovolakis will be the guest speaker for the Department of Defense Management (DDM) monthly Defense Management speaker series, beginning on July 26th at noon in Reed Hall Room 101/102. This series is intended to further the awareness through presentation and discussion of the integrated nature of management and business competencies with the complex nature of engineering and science in order to facilitate relevant capability for the national defense. Mr. Pyrovolakis will discuss industry importance and challenges of investing in defense and the critical necessity of understanding the relationships between private capital investment and defense capability. His discussion will also touch on potential pathways to bring the commercial and defense sector into better alignment in order to facilitate technology transition to the warfighter.

John Pyrovolakis is the founder of the Innovation Accelerator Foundation (IAF), which promotes economic and security dominance through innovation. He is an entrepreneur and researcher with the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab and has backgrounds in mathematical logic, linguistics and philosophy. The Innovation Accelerator Foundation (IAF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit as authorized by the Internal Revenue Service. Its mission is to promote our nation’s economic competitiveness in the global economy by promoting our nation’s innovation. Its Academic Venture Exchange activity is a cooperative of 34 of our nation’s top research and development universities intended to bridge the “technology valley of death.” The IAF’s work commercializing federally funded research and development was cited in a report from the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) to the White House.
