Math Boost Camp

The Math Boost Camp is a free, intensive workshop offered by the Applied Mathematics Department since 2022. Offered during the week before the Summer quarter (during the orientation week), this Camp serves the students looking to review and reinforce foundational topics, essential for success in Math and Science courses in their NPS programs such as Engineering, OR, CS, Defense Analysis, and DDM. There are several hands-on, engaging and friendly sessions, with each session covering different material.

Interested in refreshing your Algebra skills? Then THE MATH BOOST CAMP is the perfect opportunity for you! Join us for a FREE intensive, but friendly, math workshop, offered by the Applied Mathematics Department, to review fundamental algebra and trigonometry concepts, essential to succeed in Calculus and other courses.

What is the Learning Experience?

Formal Learning

Formal learning provides students with a structured learning experience, where the instructor serves as a guide, imparting knowledge and expertise in a classroom environment that facilitates active participation, engagement, and clarification of concepts.

Independent Learning

Independent learning provides an opportunity for self-directed learning, empowering students to take ownership of their learning process, finding solutions at their own pace by working through problems independently to arrive at a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.

Collaborative Learning

Collaborative learning fosters a dynamic culture, where students work in groups, bouncing ideas around, expressing their thoughts, challenging, and learning from each other. The collaborative learning environment encourages peer-to-peer learning that promotes mutual benefits by deepening the understanding of the concepts by explaining them to others.
